After mapping out a 5.5 mile run and considering what distance to run, 2, 3.5 or 5.5, I started out running not completely sure of the distance. It was so hot and humid, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to run. At the point in the run, where I needed to make the choice of the distance, I chose to attempt a 3.5 miler. I got started down the road in that direction only to find myself turning around to head back the way I came. I finished the run with about 2.5 miles. It was just too humid. I actually somewhat regretted running yesterday. My face felt burned all day from the sun. I don’t usually complain about a run. But, in this case, while I love to run, I should have waited. I’m kind of like making up for last year when I couldn’t run much at all. Depending upon which day works better, Sundays or Mondays is the day of my long run. Well, the way yesterday was, any distance was too long.

Just another manic Monday!

Well, Monday can only be summed us this. No Umph! I ran 3.5 miles and finished with a time of 42 minutes. I just could not get the speed up or keep it up. In short, no gas or umph. I did enjoy the run despite it’s outcome. My best time for this distance is slightly over 36 minutes. Hoping for a better outcome during the week.
During the week of the 13th of July, I had a great week of running. I ran almost every day and the weather was great! I think I ran more than 8 miles in the week and yes, I know, that’s not a lot, but, based upon my lack of it, it was great and I am now returning to running like I used to. This week, I only got out once and that was yesterday. I had an issue that killed my efforts this week and have only now got back into it. It’s amazing though, I’m over 20 pounds lighter than I used to be and my running has greatly improved. The combination of proper nutrition and exercise has really helped me drop the weight.
Last Saturday’s Race and Today

Just goes to show you, goals don’t always get met. I finished the Danville Memorial T-Rail runs (5k) with a time of 33:13. My goal time was 31:00. It is a hard hilly 5k (and 12k). I just love this race because of the challenge it promises. I personally felt that I ran pretty good, it’s just that it’s a tough course. My disappointment came from the fact that I lost weight and my running has been improving, so I was expecting a better outcome. This is especially due to my finish time from the previous race. But, there were hills. Now, as for today (Monday 5-25), I ran a distance of 3.5 miles in 39:20 with an average pace of 11:2 per mile pace. That is not may best pace, which is around 8 to 9 minutes per mile pace. I have to say that regardless of the time, I really enjoyed today’s run. It was a warm but, nice day. I couldn’t pass it up.
It was a great day today to run! I did 3 miles in 34 1/2 minutes. The breakdown is 9:20 for the first mile and 15:35 for the half way point or turnaround. I did a short 1/2 powered sprint instead of what my usual is, which is an afterburner run at full power. Man I love this time of year, let there be more sun! Just 18 days until Race #1 – YES! Can’t wait. I’m doing what one shouldn’t be doing and that is hoping and praying for PERFECT weather that day!
Today was one of those days that you just could not pass up a good run! It was 30 minutes of a great quality run. Yes, I did have some walks here an there, but it was a good run. You know it is a good run when you reach the finish and feel satisfied! I’ve already planned for one tomorrow if the weather holds out. Legs seem in good shape, which is great, considering that my first race of the year is about a month away.
Well, the new image says it all. While I really liked the previous one, this one fits better then a new pair of sneakers! The preceding image lacked color even though it was one of my favorite images. I wanted one that had more life to it and I think I found it. I love running in races and this image best represents that.
The left image was the preceding image.
The image at the right was the one that I had before recent changes. Good, but not as good as the latest update. I welcome comments.
I ran for 20 minutes yesterday instead of going out for distance. I also did a short afterburner run (sprint). Overall the quality of the run was great! I am focusing on time this year rather than distance to see if it has any positive effect on my runs. Time will tell!
Yesterday, I had an unexpected day off and that’s another story, but, I decided to run and I did a 2 miler in 20 minutes. I pushed myself instead of just running it like I usually do. It was a good run and it was cold with some light snow showers. It was also neat to see how my legs were performing as well.
Well, wasn’t satisfied with the first, so I think this one works. So far that is I hope. Welcome any comments.
